WILMINGTON, MA — At this week’s Select Board Meeting, Wilmington Town Manager Jeff Hull announced the appointment of Kate-Lynn Coraccio as the next Director of the Wilmington Memorial Library.
Ms. Coraccio currently serves as the Deputy Director of Borrowers Services at the Worcester Public Library, where she manages a staff of 39 full-time employees and a $900,000 materials budget, while overseeing collections, circulation, a community branch, and bookmobile services.
Coraccio previously worked for eight years at the Morse Institute Library in Natick, where she served as a digital media librarian, a marketing librarian, and — ultimately — the Head of Knowledge and Community Services. She also previously worked at the Acton Public Library as its Head of Adult Services.
Coraccio holds a Masters of Library & Information Sciences from San Jose State University, a Bachelor of Science from Bridgewater State University in History/Secondary Education, and a Librarian Certification from the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.
The announcement was made following a thorough six-month search. A screening committee — comprised of two library trustees, the Assistant Town Manager, the former Assistant Library Director, and the current Assistant Library Director — reviewed resumes, conducted interviews, and recommended three finalists for the Board of Library Trustees to interview. After the finalist interviews were completed, the Library Trustees recommended Coraccio for the job to Town Manager Jeff Hull, who conducted his own interview and agreed with their assessment.
“I am fully confident in Kate-Lynn’s ability to carry on the legacy of leadership, innovation and customer service established by Christina Stewart and her staff over many years and believe she will work collaboratively to further enhance the services offered by the Wilmington Memorial Library,” Town Manager Jeff Hull wrote in a memo to the Select Board.
Longtime Library Director Tina Stewart is set to retire on Friday, September 15, 2023 after serving the Town for 49 years. Stewart was honored by the Select Board prior to the announcement of Coraccio’s appointment.
Community members are invited to thank Stewart at a Farewell Celebration on Friday, September 15, 2023, from 4pm to 6pm, in the Wilmington Memorial Library’s second-floor Conference Room, which was recently renamed the “Stewart Room” in recognition of Stewart’s contribution to the library and the town.
