SALEM, NH — Mary “Stella” (Godfrey) Lind, 76, of Salem, NH, formerly of Wilmington, passed away on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 21, 1946, to the late Jacob P. and Anna T. (Flaherty) Godfrey, in Chatham, New Brunswick.
Known to many as either Mary or Stella, she loved the company of her family and friends. Stella also enjoyed her trips to the casino, her scratch tickets, crafting, crocheting, baking, taking cruises, shopping, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Stella is predeceased by her husband, Norman J. Lind.
Stella is survived by her children: Lisa Tibbets, and her husband William, of Salem, NH, and David Hawkins, and his fiancé Diana Toppi, of Woburn, MA; her siblings: Jeanette Tighe, of Wilmington, MA, Parker Godfrey, of Hampstead, NH, Walter Godfrey, of Lunenburg, MA, Margaret Pellerin, of Salem, NH, Georgie Jaena, of Tewksbury, MA, and Eileen Osgood, of Deltona, FL; her grandchildren: Carolyn DeSantis, and her husband William, Shawn Smith, and his wife Taylor, and William Hawkins; her great-grandchildren: Aleigha Russo, Aria, Riley, and Gracie DeSantis, and Kennedy and Emersyn Smith; many nieces and nephews; as well as many who affectionately called her, Momma Mary, Grammie, and Friend.
Friends and family were invited to Calling Hours on Saturday, August 12, 2023, from 9-10:30 AM, at the Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A Funeral Mass was held on August 12, 2023, at 11 AM, at St. Anne’s Parish, 26 Emerson Ave., Hampstead, NH 03841. Internment followed at Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA.
