OBITUARY: Ruth T. (McKeon) Doucette, 87

Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — Ruth T. (McKeon) Doucette, age 87, a long-time resident of Wilmington, formerly of Woburn, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on July 31, 2023.

Ruth was born on August 30, 1935. She was the cherished daughter of the late Ralph and Hilda (Bradley) McKeon. Ruth was raised and educated in Malden and a proud graduate of the Cheverus Catholic High School.

Ruth met Charlie Doucette back in the 1950s at a birthday party. They soon became an item and were married a few years later in June of 1955. Life quickly took off on a high note with lots of family and friends. Charlie worked his daytime job to support the family and Ruth was always there to support her husband. From an early age, Ruth’s unconditional love and devotion was to her family. They were “her world.” Ruth was a hands-on mom (the best mom, as the youngest might say) who was a quiet source of strength and encouragement to her children and grandchildren. She was always there to lend a hand to help, make a meal or just listen. Ruth kept a beautiful home and went out of her way to make every occasion a special one. All guests was guaranteed to feel welcomed and loved in her home.

Ruth and Charlie had an active social life and many dear friends. She loved to entertain, and friends and family would gather frequently at the family home to share laughter, stories, birthday parties, holidays and great food. Ruth was always quick with a smile and her laughter made everyone else join in. She was happiest among family and friends, whether out at one of their favorite restaurants or at the family homestead on Allen Park Drive. Lunches on the porch, cookouts, pool parties and dinners in the dining room were a part of everyday life. She truly knew how to make a house into a home and make any visitor feel welcomed. During the summer months, Ruth and Charlie could always be found at their Cape Cod home, enjoying their little slice of heaven.

Ruth worked tirelessly alongside her husband Charlie while they built their business within the community. Charlie and Ruth ran their family business together for more than 50 years until his untimely passing in 2012. Business success had an early foundation that combined superb craftsmanship, a hearty work ethic and a tireless drive to be of service within the community. Time and again, the Charlie and Ruth combination proved to be successful in creating a loving family, a legacy business and a beautiful home for a lifetime of sharing and enjoyment.

Ruth was the beloved wife of 57 years to the late Charles W. Doucette, devoted mother of Susan Camillieri of Wilmington, Karen Doucette of Newton, Thomas Doucette, and Lisa Doucette-Bond, both of Wilmington, loving “Nanny” of Lauren, Andrew, Kaileigh and Michelle, and great-grandmother of London and Shelby and dearest sister of Dorothy E. Leger of Melrose, MA.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 9:00am followed by a funeral mass at St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00am. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Friday, August 4, 2023 from 4-7pm.

In lieu of flowers, find an opportunity each day to make someone smile. Donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
