WILMINGTON RESTAURANT NEWS: Pie Me Over To Close This Week, Cucina LaRosa’s Expects To Open In Early August

Below is some of the latest news from the Wilmington restaurant scene:

  • Pie Me Over, located at 217 Main Street inside the Wilmington Crossing Plaza, is closing its doors for good this Saturday, July 22. “We decided not to renew our lease and are semi-retiring,” owner Marje Hammond announced on social media. “It was a difficult decision. We really want to thank our regular customers. We appreciate the support. You have become like friends and family to us.” Fresh pies and a limited amount of frozen pies (best to preorder!) will be available through Saturday. The highly-reviewed gourmet chicken pot pie shop opened in Wilmington in November 2019, filling the vacant storefront left behind by Fantastic Sams.
  • Code 1 BBQ, located at 211 Main Street inside the Wilmington Crossing Plaza, is holding its first ever “Beyond The Smoke” BBQ class this Saturday, July 22, from 7am to 2pm. Learn more HERE. The restaurant also just added new seating to their shop this week.
  • Cucina LaRosa’s (228 Main Street) is expected to open in early August. The restaurant is currently hiring cooks, dishwashers, sous chefs, cafe order takers, waitresses, and food runners/bussers. Resumes can be sent to larosas.restaurant@gmail.com.
  • Pancho’s Cantina (206 Ballardvale Street) will begin serving brunch every Saturday, from 9am to noon, beginning this Saturday, July 22. The restaurant promises an amazing brunch menu. Mimosa, Bloody Mary, and Michelada Flights are available. … Pancho’s Cantina was also recently spotlighted by Wilmington Community Television’s new “Wilmington Eats” TV show.
  • Boston Burger Company, owned by Wilmington’s Paul Malvone, is once again in the running for Boston Magazine‘s annual “Battle of the Burger.” Vote for the restaurant HERE.
  • The Wilmington Farmers Market (140 Middlesex Avenue, Swain Green) is celebrating Christmas in July this Sunday, July 23, 2023, from 10am to 1pm, at the Swain Green, across from the Town Common. 13 food vendors are scheduled, including the Beefie Boys Food Truck. Live music, a Christmas ornament craft for kids and Santa Claus are also scheduled. See the lineup HERE.
  • The G’s Eats on the Streets Food Truck and Tony’s Ice Cream Truck have been selling to concert-goers at this year’s Concerts on the Common, organized by the Wilmington Recreation Department. The final concert takes place on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, featuring the female-led “BackTrack” band.
