Wilmington’s Eric Spinney Named Player Of The Week In Northeast Baseball League

STONEHAM, MA — The Northeast Baseball League of Stoneham recently announced that Eric Spinney of the Wilmington Wildcats has been named as “Player of the Week” for the week ending June 25, 2023 for the Varsity Division.

Eric Spinney, pitcher and shortstop, was recognized for his performance in the Wildcats’ wins against Dracut and North Reading. Spinney came out of the bullpen on Thursday and struck out four Dracut batters in his 2 1/3 innings of relief work, which would allow Wilmington to hold on to win 8-4 in a bounce back victory over Dracut. The following day Spinney went 3 for 3 with a walk at the plate, propelling the Wildcats to a blowout 11-1 win over North Reading. In the two games, Spinney totaled five hits including a double, 3 stolen bases, and four runs scored.

The Wildcats playing under Manager and former Northeast player, Joe Dynan, currently lead the Varsity Division with a 3-1 record. Wilmington has home and home games scheduled this week versus Lowell Gray before the Fourth of July break.

The Northeast Baseball League, established in 1979, provides the opportunity for summer baseball play for players aged 13 through 18 with more than 30 teams across 5 divisions. For more information see our website at: northeastbaseballleague.com.
