WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a list of FREE upcoming programs for adults, teens and kids at the Wilmington Memorial Library.

The library will be closed on Saturday, July 1 and Tuesday, July 4 in observance of Independence Day. The library will also close at 5pm on Monday, July 3.

Adult Programs

Intro to ChatGPT
Monday, July 10, 7pm
Come see the ChatGPT AI in action. You will see what it can do and find out what the legal and ethical concerns are. Led by Technology Librarian Brad McKenna.

Intro to Disc Golf
Tuesday, July 11, 6:30pm
Have fun while learning one of the fastest growing sports in the country, disc golf. Disc golf is a lifetime sport that is a great way to get outdoors, exercise, and socialize with friends and family. During this event you will learn the skills, rules, scoring, and play on a simulated disc golf course. This program will take place on the Swain Green. All you will need to bring is a bottle of water. Discs will be provided for the event. Ages 10+

Craft and Chat
Wednesday, July 12, 7pm
Enjoy making a craft while socializing with others! This craft group meets the second Wednesday of the month at 7pm. All craft supplies provided. July’s featured craft is a Floral Votive.

VIRTUAL An Evening with Author Lisa See
Wednesday, July 12, 7pm
Join New York Times bestselling author Lisa See as she talks about her new book Lady Tan’s Circle of Women, a captivating story of women helping other women. See’s latest historical novel was inspired by the true story of a woman physician from 15th-century China and is a triumphant reimagining of the life of a woman who was remarkable in the Ming dynasty and would be considered remarkable today.

This is a social group for those who do any kind of needle craft. Bring your knitting, crocheting, quilting, etc. and enjoy a little conversation and camaraderie. Drop in.

VIRTUAL Poetry Circle

Intro to Forest Bathing at Hathaway Acres
Saturday, July 15, 10am
Guided forest bathing is a gentle and relaxing practice that restores our connection with ourselves and the landscape around us. Take time out for yourself, for this very special opportunity to connect with other people and experience the relaxing practice of forest bathing, together in a group, led by certified forest therapy guide and award-winning author, Nadine Mazzola. This class will consist of a series of gentle activities (invitations) that allow participants to use their 5-senses to engage with nature. Forest bathing has the health benefits of mindfulness, immune system support, and encouraging variable heart rate. This is not a physically demanding class. Class activities are low-impact, slow-paced, and cover short distances. We will meet at the Hathaway Acres trailhead on the corner of Evans Drive and Draper Drive in Wilmington, MA.

Princess Visit with Mirabel and Halle’s Ariel

Friends & Freeze Pops

Kids entering grades 1-3 can join in for a summer of reading fun! Registered kids will receive a copy of the book to keep that we’ll read together every week, enjoying freeze pops and playing games along the way! The featured book is Dragons and Marshmallows (Zoey and Sassafras #1) by Asia Citro. Grades 1-3

Crafternoon: Cyanotypes

We will be experimenting with cyanotypes, which are a way of creating photographic prints with only the sun and objects! Grades 4-8

Music with Dara
Friday, July 14, 10am
With keyboard, felt board, finger puppets, and engaging visual props, Dara weaves songs (old and new favorites), fingerplays, rhythmic activities/simple instrument playing, and creative movement for a fun-filled musical 30-45 minute program. Lots of clapping, marching, singing, creative expression and FUN! Ages 2-5

Switch it Up! Video Game Club

Love video games? Love Nintendo Switch? Come to this once-a-month video game club to play your favorite Switch games with friends! Grades 1-5

Horror Makeup FX with Decimated Designs
Saturday, July 15, 2pm
Kyle from Decimated Designs, a professional makeup, costume and set designer, will offer a look into the world of fantasy and horror special FX. He will cover the do’s and do-not’s of effects makeup, hygiene, how to get started, how pros make monsters jump to life, and some of the tricks kids can use to improve their costumes/makeup at home. He’ll also demonstrate on a few participants, so get ready to get spooky! Ages 10-adult

D&D
Saturday, July 15, 3pm
Interested in finding out more about this fantasy tabletop role-playing game, or looking for a group to play with? This month’s session will be IN PERSON at the library. We use D&DBeyond to track and create our characters. Please email us at teens@wilmlibrary.org with any questions. Grades 6-8

Library Redesign Project Update

The first floor of the library will be closed through the weeks of June 12 and July 10 while the redesign project is being implemented. Books and public computers on the first floor will not be accessible during this time. The second floor will remain open and the following services will be available at this location.

Book Store Next Door

The Book Store Next Door is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10am to 4pm. Shop discount books! Paperbacks for $1 and hardcovers for $2. The Book Store is staffed by volunteers from the Friends of the Library and all proceeds help support library programs.

WML In-Person Programming

Registration is required for most in-person programs. Please check our website on the day of the program to confirm location. Masks are no longer required for vaccinated patrons while visiting the library.

WML Virtual Programming
