Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:
WILMINGTON, MA — Jeanette “Jean” (Gehl) Yetman, age 90, of Wilmington passed away peacefully at home on June 17th, 2023 of congestive heart failure and kidney failure.
Jean was born on November 6th, 1932, in Marshfield, Wisconsin. She was one of 5 children born to the late Jacob Gehl and the late Lydia (Krause) Gehl. The family moved to Somerville, MA, when she was young, and Jean was raised there. She graduated from Somerville High School in 1951.
After high school, Jean went to work for the John Hancock company.
Jean met the love of her life, Robert “Bob” Yetman through her brother Eddie as the two served in the United States Air Force together. Bob and Jean were married in May of 1955. They moved a lot in the early years for Bob’s work until they finally settled down in Wilmington in 1963. After getting married, Jean was a housewife, raising their 3 sons. Whether it was driving the kids to hockey games, Boy Scout camping trips, or going to support her son running a marathon, she did it all with love.
Once the children were grown, Jean ran Systematic Payroll Service with Bob until 1993. Her clients always talked about Jean in glowing terms for the personal touch that she gave to their business.
In her spare time, Jean loved to knit afghans and scarves. She also enjoyed spending time at the family cottage on Balch Lake in East Wakefield, NH. Jean could often be found riding her SeaDoo watercraft, which she did until she was nearly 90. She was also an avid gardener who loved her lilies, angel trumpets, and other flowers that she tended to with an extraordinary amount of loving care. But most of all Jean loved spending time with people and made instant connections with nearly everyone she met.
Jean was predeceased by her brothers Edwin “Eddie” Gehl and Allen “Butch” Gehl. She was also predeceased by her sister Joanne (Gehl) Welsh. Jean is survived by her sister Jane “Pat” Gehl of Canton, MA , her three sons, William “Skip” Yetman of Lawrence, MA, Richard Yetman of East Wakefield, NH, Kevin Yetman of Wilmington, and by her grandson Daniel Yetman and his wife Emily of Memphis, TN. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to gather at Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave (Route 62), Wilmington, MA on June 25th, 2023, from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.
