Wilmington Native & Notre Dame Alum Olivia Wingate Notches First Pro Goal

WASHINGTON, DC — Rookie Olivia Wingate scored the first professional goal of her career Wednesday (June14) night, one-timing home the winner in the North Carolina Courage 2-1 win over the Washington Spirit in UKG NWSL Challenge Cup play. The goal was scored in the 90+2’ to break the tie and catapult the Courage to the top of the East Division standings.

Wingate, a Wilmington, Massachusetts native and Notre Dame alum, was selected sixth overall in the 2023 NWSL Draft. She scored a goal in an international friendly against Rayadas in March and has netted two assists between Challenge Cup and NWSL league action in her first season before finding the back of the net for the first time stateside on Wednesday night.
