Wilmington School Committee Extends Superintendent’s Deal For Two Years, Brand Now Signed Through 2025-2026 School Year

WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington School Committee  recently voted unanimously to extend the contract of Superintendent Dr. Glenn Brand for an additional two years.

“We’re in the second year of a 3-year contract. At the end of the second year, the School Committee has the option to extend the contract for up to another two years beyond the third year, which the School Committee has decided to exercise,” explained School Committee Chair David Ragsdale.

The School Committee discussed and approved the contract roll-over at their May 10th Executive Session Meeting. As is require by state law, the Committee then approved the  extension in public session at its May 24 meeting.

Dr. Brand’s contract now runs to the end of the 2025-2026 school year.

“We look forward to your continued leadership in our district,” Ragsdale told Dr. Brand after the vote.

“And I forward to nothing but that. I appreciate your confidence in my work and am looking forward to continue to partner with you,” responded Dr. Brand.

The School Committee also voted unanimously to give Dr. Brand a 3% raise for the 2023-2024 school year. Brand’s current base salary is in the vicinity of $206,000.

Dr. Brand has been Wilmington’s School Superintendent since July 2018. He was chosen after an extensive selection process that saw 23 candidates apply.

Prior to arriving in Wilmington, Dr. Brand was the Superintendent at Acton-Boxborough Regional School District (2014-2017) and Assistant Superintendent at Sharon Public Schools (2011-2014). He also served as a Middle School Principal in Needham (2006-2011) and Wareham (2004-2016) and as a Middle School Assistant Principal in Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District (2002-2004).

Dr. Brand, a Canadian native, received Bachelor degrees from The University of Western Ontario; a Master of Education from Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto; and a Doctor of Education from the University of Bath (UK) School of Education. He began his education career as a classroom teacher (grades 3, 4, 6-8) in Ontario from 1994 through 2001.
