WILMINGTON, MA — At the most recent Wilmington School Committee meeting, Assistant Superintendent Christine Elliott announced new district liaisons for the Performing Arts Department and Visual Arts Department for the 2023-2024 school year.
Michael Ferrara will become the new Performing Arts Liaison. Ferrara has vast classroom experience, teaching at every level, including: General Music (Kindergarten, Grades 4 & 5, and Middle School); Chorus (Grades 5, 8, 9-12); Music Theory & American Music (Grades 9-12); and Marching, Concert and Jazz Band (Grades 6-12). Ferrara, an alum of the Wilmington Public Schools and Wildcat Bands, holds a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Westfield State University.
Lena Phillips will become the new Visual Arts Liaison. Phillips joined Wilmington Public Schools in 2017 and has served as an art teacher at the both the Middle School and West Intermediate School. She has shown a strong understanding of curriculum design and expressed a strong desire to support the department with its vertical alignment of curriculum from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
Ferrara is taking the reigns from Anita Dilullo, while Phillips is following in the footsteps of Megan Hinman. Their positions begin July 1, 2023.
“I’m exciting and happy to have both Michael and Lena on board,” said Elliott. “I express my appreciation to both Anita and Megan for their contributions.”
The other district liaison position — for Physical Education — continues to be filled by Laura Stinson.
