OBITUARY: David R. DeBlois, 81

Below is an obituary from Nichols Funeral Home:

WILMINGTON, MA — David R. DeBlois, age 81, a long-time resident of Wilmington, passed away on May 30, 2023, following a lengthy illness.

David was born on January 21, 1942, in Chicago, IL; he was the son of the late George R. and Ami (Crumlish) DeBlois. David was raised and educated in Chicago. Following graduation, David attended Penn State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree. He moved to Boston to attend Bentley University, where he earned a master’s degree in mathematics.

David met the love of his life, Valerie Dickson in 1975 and after a brief courtship, the couple were married in 1977. The newlyweds moved to Malden, Massachusetts to begin their lives together and start a family. In 1986 the family moved to their sprawling property in Wilmington, complete with horses. It was at this home that David and Val raised their three children, Garrett, Nicole, and Jillian. Their Chestnut Street home has been a place of love, comfort and fun for their children, grandchildren, friends and family for the past 37 years.

Professionally, David was a dedicated CPA for over fifty years; he maintained many clients for the span of his career. David loved watching the world go by from his home office and truly enjoyed helping his clients with complicated cases. Nothing made him happier than when his daughter Jillian worked with him side-by-side.

In his spare time, David loved spending time with his grandchildren. A trip to get ice cream, a ride in one of his beloved Jaguars or a night out for dinner were some of the special things he liked to do with them. David loved sharing his coin collection with them and his love of clocks. He made it his mission to get all of his grandchildren involved with his passions and as a result, many of his grandchildren share his love of sailing.

David will be remembered for his love and dedication to his family. Nothing made him happier than having his whole family together. He was so proud to become “Papa” to his eight beautiful grandchildren. David was a quiet, gentle, man who loved going to car shows and the symphony and enjoyed the buzz of activity at his home in Wilmington. He was independent, reliable, and took care of his own. He will be forever remembered and deeply missed.

David was the beloved husband of Valerie J. DeBlois, devoted father of Garrett DeBlois & his wife Melissa of Wilmington, Nicole DeBlois of New Fane, VT, and Jillian Connor of Derry, NH, loving “Papa” of Vivian, Amelie, Avery, Grant, Abraham, Cheyenne, Dakota, and Brayden, dear brother of the late James DeBlois and Connie Boris. David is survived by his cousin Donna Felts, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will gather for a Funeral Service at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington, on Tuesday, June 6th at 11:00 a.m. followed by interment in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, June 5th from 4:00-7:00 p.m.

Memorial donations in David’s name may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692 or to Grace Cottage Foundation, P.O. Box 1, Townshend, VT 05353.
