Dear Editor,
I’d like to publicly thank curator Cienna Lyon and the volunteers at Harnden Tavern for the wonderful celebration of two of Wilmington’s most active residents, Ann Berghaus and Adele Passmore, on the occasion of their 80th and 90th birthdays, respectively. It was a delightful afternoon filled with warm remembrances, great speeches by town and state dignitaries, delicious food from AJ’s Kitchen, and a musket volley from our own Minutemen. Even “Elvis Presley” showed up in his Vegas finery to celebrate and serenade! Three display cases of personal mementoes from Ann and Adele’s lives were artfully arranged inside the Tavern, and will continue to be on display for a few weeks. It was a pleasure to see such life and activity on the old Tavern’s grounds.
To pull such an event together takes a huge effort of coordination and attention to detail. Ms. Lyon is to be congratulated for such a masterful job.
Sincerely,
Debra Russo
