POLICE LOG for August 1: Coyote Living Under Porch; Garage Catches On Fire; Unwanted Guns Turned In To Police

WILMINGTON, MA — Below are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log from Monday, August 1, 2022:
  • A manager reported 2 rifles were found during a clean-up job on Industrial Way. Police confiscated rifles and contacted owner. (8:13am)
  • A party reported 2 big holes on the sidewalk of Salem Street and Anthony Avenue. Party was concerned for safety of walkers and runners. Police notified DPW. (8:45am)
  • A Nichols Street homeowner reported a coyote may be living under her porch. Coyote described as “not well” with mange. Coyote ran into woods when Animal Control Officer responded. (10:28am)
  • Fire Department responded to a structure (garage) fire on Chestnut Street. Police shut down both sides of street. (1:20pm)
  • A caller reported that they were cleaning out a residence and found some firearms in a safe. Officer responded and took firearms and ammunition. (4:53pm)
  • During a check of the cemetery, police came across a man who stated he was doing some engraving for a client. He was advised of the cemetery’s hours and sent on his way. (9:27pm)
