POLICE LOG for July 16: The Original Bear Sighting; Congressional Candidate Campaigning Over 93; Car Fire

WILMINGTON, MA — Below are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log from Saturday, July 16, 2022:
  • Police assisted with a SWAT callout in Somerville. (7:32am)
  • 2 callers reported a bear sighting in the area of Woburn Street and High Street. Animal Control Officer, State Police and Environmental Police notified. Trash was found strewn about near 240 Woburn Street. (8:42am)
  • Police received report of people holding signs on bridge in area of 93 North Exit 34. Banners hung on fence. Police responded. Man on scene said his name was Bob May and he’s running for Congress. He’ll be holding signs in the area through November. (10:59am)
  • Fire Department responded to car fire on 93 North. (12:09pm)
  • A lifeguard reported 4 females left the designated swimming area at Town Beach. Police spoke with the group. (5:35pm)
