OBITUARY: Francis Joseph Clifford, 89

WILMINGTON, MA — Francis Joseph Clifford, age 89, of Wilmington, MA passed away peacefully at home on January 18, 2022.

Frank was the beloved husband of the late Anna Mae (Stanton) Clifford. He is survived by his siblings: Karen M. DeDonato & her husband David of Moultonborough, NH, along with their children Kelli, Lisa, David and Michael DeDonato, Brian J. Clifford & his wife Nancy of Leverett, his sister-in law Marjorie Connell of Wilmington, and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his sister Rita F. Clifford, sister Eleanor M. & her husband William Condon of Middleboro, and brother Edward M. Clifford.

Born in Brockton, Frank was the son of the late Francis M. and Rita C. (Barry) Clifford. He graduated from Brockton High School in 1949 and Bentley College in 1951. He was a proud military veteran serving in the Army during the Korean War from 1952-1954 and then went on to continue his studies at Suffolk University.

Frank retired from the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, where he was employed for 32 years.

Frank enjoyed spending time with his family, attending Bentley basketball games with Tony and his friends, volunteering at the Wilmington Food Pantry, and coffee hours and lots of laughs with Heinz and his friends at the Wilmington Senior Center.

Family and friends will gather at Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave., (Rte. 62) Wilmington on Monday, January 24th at 9:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow in St. Thomas Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday, January 23rd from 3:00-6:00 p.m. Masks are required for all services.
