Below is a press release from the Shawsheen Tech:
HYANNIS, MA — Shawsheen Technical High School’s School Committee Chair Patricia Meuse received the prestigious Lifetime Membership award from the Massachusetts Association of School Committees (MASC) during their annual conference. Patricia is one of two Tewksbury representatives on Shawsheen’s School Committee.
MASC is an association for school committee members, established to support school leaders in their governance role. It’s an organization that provides its members with programs, services, and resources on legislative processes around education and education policy.
Patricia is a 26-year member of the Massachusetts Association of School Committees, where her colleagues overwhelmingly recommended her for life membership: “Pat goes out of her way to answer constituent questions and address their concerns. She is always available to members of the Committee, Community, and MASC network, though her top priority has always been the safety and success of all students.”
The Lifetime Membership award is not part of an annual recognition program, as it is selectively given to individuals who “through their service to the Association, have made a significant contribution.” Patricia Meuse was honored with the award citing her unparalleled leadership during the ongoing COVID pandemic, and earlier, when she helped Shawsheen through the implementation of MCAS and subsequent initiatives to raise student achievement.”
Meuse’s involved on Shawsheen’s School Committee has been vital for policy and school advancement, but her knowledge about local government and educational issues extends far beyond the local community. Patricia has actively developed and organized professional development programs for MASC, she has been a representative at the Delegate Assembly, is a regular attendee at National School Board Association conferences, and is an active part of MASC’s geographical Division 1 group and the vocational-technical Division 8 group. Additionally, several years ago, she represented MASC on the state’s multi-organizational Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) Taskforce.
Patricia Meuse has served on Shawsheen’s School Committee since 1995 and is the current Chair. Prior to Shawsheen, Patricia served on Tewksbury’s School Committee from 1987-1994, serving twice as Chair, and holding roles on various subcommittees. At Shawsheen, Meuse has chaired the Curriculum Committee and the Superintendent Screening Committee, and has held a seat on the budget, facilities, and audit subcommittees.
Patricia is an active member of the Tewksbury community. An attorney by profession, Patricia also served as the procurement coordinator for Tewksbury Public Schools, is a former member of the Tewksbury Youth Center, has served as a youth minister and CCD coach, and as a member of the town’s Drug and Alcohol and Wellness Committees.
