POLICE LOG for October 18: Syringe Found; Plant Stolen; Playground Fence Damaged; Baby Possum Rescued From Pool

WILMINGTON, MA — Below are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log from Monday, October 18, 2021:
  • Landscaping crew on Avalon Drive found a loaded syringe on the property. Police retrieved for proper disposal. (8:08am)
  • Methodist Church reported damage to playground. It appeared kids climbed the fence to access the playground and popped zip times holding the fence. Footprints appear to be the size of young children (12-13 year-olds). Staff requested extra patrols and to advise anyone afterhours in the playground to be moved along. (8:46am)
  • A Dorchester Street resident found a baby possum in their pool. Animal Control Officer transported possum to Chelmsford Animal Rehab. (10:24am)
  • Police spoke with a man sleeping outside CVS. He was told CVS management asked him to move along. Police offered assistance, which was declined. (11:50am)
  • Students were stuck in an elevator at the high school. Fire Department was able to get them out. (11:57am)
  • A North Reading Transport school minivan bus was rear-ended on Main Street. No injuries. No airbag deployment. (4:17pm)
  • An Andover Street caller reported sometime between 9am and noon yesterday, his rhodedendron plant was taken from his yard, approximately 100 feet from his driveway. (5:28pm)
