Below is an announcement published in the latest Wilmington-Tewksbury Chamber of Commerce:
STONEHAM, MA — Stoneham M.E. Federal Credit Union awarded two local students with scholarships for their upcoming freshman year of college. The students were the recipients of the Elsie P. Kinney Memorial Annual Scholarship program. Each Spring, the Credit Union collects scholarship applications from high school seniors who are either members of Stoneham M.E. Federal Credit Union or children of members.
Stoneham M.E. Federal Credit Union’s board of directors reviewed the applications and ultimately choose the students who demonstrated excellence in both academics and extracurricular activities. This year’s recipients are Ida Bishop of Wilmington, who will study at Roger Williams University, and Jared Benoit, of Wilmington, who will study at University of New England.
The students were each awarded $500 and recognized at a reception on July 1st, 2021, at the Melrose First Branch Office at 616 Main Street in Melrose, MA. Lydia Bourque, Elsie P. Kinney’s daughter, presented the student(s) with the scholarship.
