POLICE LOG for October 24: Motorcyclist Seriously Injured In Crash On Route 38; Multiple Calls Over Lawn Signs & Fireworks

WILMINGTON, MA — Below are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log from Saturday, October 24, 2020:
  • An Apple Tree Lane caller reported hearing what she believed were gunshots around 3:45am. She observed a vehicle on her video doorbell leave the area. Police responded and located remnants of fireworks in the area. No property damage. (9:50am)
  • Police and Fire responded to a motorcycle vs. car crash on Main Street at intersection in front of Wilmington Crossing plaza. Car driver received a written citation for failure to yield at intersection. Both vehicles towed. Motorcyclist was seriously injured. An AED was used from a police cruiser. Mass Highway provided “road closed” signs. State Police Reconstruction Team was called in. (12:11pm)
  • A Woburn Street resident reported their political sign was taken. (1:37pm)
  • Police received report of political signs on town property at Salem Street and Woburn Street. Police removed signs. (2:43pm)
  • A Chestnut Street caller reported their ‘support the police’ lawn sign was stolen. (3:22pm)
  • A teen walked away from the Milestone Group Home on High Street. Police could not locate teen. Teen was entered missing in the CJIS. (6:36pm)
  • Police checked the area between Yentile Farm and Textron after receiving anonymous tip of teens gathering in the area. Police did not locate any teens, but did destroy a makeshift fire pit on path near Textron. (7:10pm)
  • A detail officer reported a goose fell out of a tree near the Methodist Church. Animal Control Officer notified. (8:21pm)
  • A Salem Street caller reported someone shot paintballs at his front bay window while he was not home. Police responded. No damage to windows. Will conduct extra patrols. (10:31pm)
  • A caller reported that he was driving behind a vehicle on Salem Street that threw something out the window that started a brush fire. Police and Fire Department responded. Appeared someone disposed of a possible firework. Fire Department extinguished fire. (11:24pm)
