WILMINGTON, MA — Below are 5 things to know in Wilmington on Monday, November 2, 2020:
#1) Curbside Pickup Of Yardwaste Begins Today
The end of the year curbside pick-up of leaves and grass clippings will begin on November 2, 2020 and extend for five weeks through December 4, 2020. Residents should place their yardwaste in biodegradable paper bags or uncovered barrels at curbside on their regular trash collection day. Yardwaste in plastic bags will not be accepted.
#2) New Schedule For Commuter Rail Goes Into Effect Today
The MBTA and Keolis have made changes to their commuter rail schedules which take effect today. The new Lowell Line (Wilmington Center) schedule can be found HERE. The new Haverhill Line (North Wilmington station) can be found HERE.
#3) Wilmington Senior Center’s Bereavement Support Group Meets
The Wilmington Senior Center’s Bereavement Support Group meets from 6pm to 7pm at Villanova Hall (126 Middlesex Avenue). All are welcome. No registration required. COVID-19 precautions are in place. Wear a mask. The group is facilitated by Faith Community Nurse Lori Hayes, RN. Contact Lori at 978-604-3102 with any questions.
#4) Wilmington Seniors & (Soon-To-Be Seniors) Encouraged To Fill Out Survey To Help Plan New Senior Center
The Focus Group for a new Wilmington Senior Center has created a survey that Wilmington seniors are encouraged to complete. Print the survey HERE. Return the completed survey by mailing it to Buzzell Senior Center, 15 School Street, Wilmington, MA 01887 or by dropping it at the Senior Center’s Drop Box (near the Center’s Front Door). Please note the original October 16, 2020 deadline has been extended into November.
#5) Kids Can Vote For Their Favorite Children’s Book In Wilmington Library’s Election
While adults get to vote for who leads our country, the youth of Wilmington get to vote for who leads the Wilmington Memorial Library’s Children’s Room! Place your vote for the best children’s books one of two ways! Visit the children’s room at the library by appointment, vote by ballot in our voting booth, and get a sticker or a pin! Kids will enjoy this great opportunity to participate in their own democracy and experience the polls!
