POLICE LOG for September 2: Census Worker Mistaken For Burglar; Redemption Issue With $500 Winning Scratch Ticket

WILMINGTON, MA — Below are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log from Wednesday, September 2, 2020:
  • During a check of a vehicle in the Shawsheen Elementary School parking lot, police saw playing, advised them and sent them on their way. (1:19am)
  • Police pulled over a driver for speeding. Driver was rushing due to a medical issue with his daughter. (1:34am)
  • Fire Department reported a white pickup truck with an unsecured dog in truck bed. Animal Control Officer responded and issued written warning for animal transport law violation. (9:12am)
  • Police advised individuals at Yentile Farm that dogs are not allowed. (10:44am)
  • A woman came into the police station with a winning $500 scratch ticket. Woman attempted to redeem the ticket at AL Prime Gas Station. Clerks scratched the void section to run through the machine and then told them to come back at 7pm because they didn’t have cash to cover the winnings. Woman is concerned since the void is scratched she can’t bring it to another location to be redeemed. Police advised woman to contact Mass Lottery. (2:50pm)
  • Police received report of a party walking around a property with a flashlight. Police pulled over vehicle. Driver is with the census and had proper documentation. She had her flashlight on to knock on the doors around the house. (8:42pm)
  • Vehicle struck and knocked down “stay right” sign at Shawsheen Avenue and Nichols Street. Police retrieved a headlight from the scene. (11:22pm)
