POLICE LOG for August 1: Wilmington Driver Issued Summons; Man Fell Asleep Behind The Wheel; Smell Of Gas Causes Evacuation

WILMINGTON, MA — Below are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log from Saturday, August 1, 2020:
  • Joao Vitor (23, Wilmington) was issued a summons for Unlicensed Operation Of A Motor Vehicle. Vitor was pulled over near the Post Office on Church Street. (1:21am)
  • A caller reported a man asleep behind the wheel at the Lowell Street/West Street lights. Police responded. Man was just tired. He passed a field sobriety test. Wife came to pick him up. She made arrangements to keep husband’s vehicle at Sonny’s Mobil on the Run. (1:49am)
  • A Pouliot Place caller reported landscaping lights on back deck has been damaged. Cords were cut. (8:09am)
  • A caller reported driver of a vehicle retrieved a package from the bushes next to the ATM in Lucci’s plaza. (9:14am)
  • Police, Fire and Elderly Services responded to odor of gas on Salem Street. LRTA bus, Senior Center van, and Action Ambulance on scene for displaced residents. (10:09am)
  • A caller reported a dog left in a vehicle in Market Basket parking lot. Police responded. Owner did not have insurance. Vehicle towed. Plates confiscated. (5:51pm)
  • During a check of Town Hall, police found 4 individuals eating pizza on picnic table.  They were told to clean up after themselves. (10:01pm)
