WILMINGTON, MA — Susan M. Farese (Leach), age 67, of Wilmington, passed away peacefully at home on July 3, 2020, surrounded by her loving family.
Susan was the beloved wife and best friend of 45 years to Biagio M. Farese and the devoted mother of Dr. Christina Farese of Wilmington and Jeffrey Farese and his wife Debbie of Georgia, loving “Nonna” of Emily, Zachary, and Kaylie. Cherished daughter of the late Clayton and Amelia (Essick) Leach, sister of Claire Rivard of Methuen.
Nothing brought Susan more joy than her family and her home—except maybe her time spent floating in the pool or at the beach with her husband. She took great pride in her children’s educational accomplishments and modeled for them in all that she did hard work, compassion, and faith. She is known for her amazing meatballs, love of margaritas and mai tais, and marathon shopping sprees.
Her love of people was exemplified in her 30-year career in human resources at Vaisala Inc. There she exhibited kindness, compassion, and grace as she supported her colleagues through the ups and downs of business with a listening ear, plenty of tissues, and chocolate.
Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Thursday, July 9th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Dorothy’s Church at 10:00 a.m. Entombment will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Methuen. Visiting Hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 8th from 4:00-7:00 p.m. All guests are required to wear a mask in the Funeral Home and in Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Susan’s memory may be made to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P. O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284-9168.
