WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Health Department will be giving out free masks to residents this Saturday, May 16, 2020, beginning at 9am, at Town Hall. Each vehicle will be given 5 masks. Drive around the building and staff will be set up at a table.
Masks are expected to go quickly — all 500 masks were given out in 45 minutes during the May 6 giveaway.
The Wilmington Health Department has given out more than 4,000 masks since March, according to Health Director Shelly Newhouse.
COVID-19 UPDATE
As of Thursday morning, there were only 19 active COVID-19 cases in Wilmington, excluding nursing homes & assisted living facilities. There are an additional 9 residents in quarantine.
As of Tuesday evening, there were 46 active COVID-cases in Wilmington nursing homes and assisted living facilities, including 30 at CareOne and 16 at Windsor Place. None of AdviniaCare’s long-term residents currently have COVID-19, but the facility does continue to act as a COVID-19 recovery center and accepts positive patients from hospitals.
298 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, according to the Town’s Health Department.
