STATE REP RACE: Alec DiFruscia Calls On State House Leaders To Begin Safe Re-Opening Of The Economy

Below is a press release from the Alec DiFrusica for State Rep campaign:

TEWKSBURY, MA — Alec DiFruscia, Republican Candidate for State Representative in the 19th Middlesex District, today called on State House leaders to take steps to re-open the Massachusetts economy:

“I commend Governor Baker for his decisive action to protect the residents of Massachusetts, but public health and economic recovery are not mutually exclusive. State House leaders need to begin working on a plan to safely open up our economy and allow small businesses to lead the way in our recovery. That’s why I’m releasing the following recommendations to revitalize and re-open the Massachusetts economy:

  • Oppose any and all tax increases

  • End the carve out of “non-essential” businesses, allowing small businesses to lead the way in recovery

  • Prioritize public-private partnerships

  • No new regulations on small businesses

  • Permanently reduce the sales tax to 5%

  • Roll back “happy hour” restrictions on bars and restaurants

  • Reduce spending by requiring a social security number as part of eligibility determinations for tax-payer funded unemployment benefits

  • Eliminate the 6.25% meals tax for at least 90 days

Small businesses make up 99.5% of Massachusetts businesses and 45.8% of Massachusetts private-sector employees. I have full trust in them to re-open in a safe, practical manner that works best for them.

Small businesses are the backbone of the Massachusetts economy. We should stand behind them, not in their way.”

  1. Ya, Governor Baker, Senate President Spilka and Speaker DeLeo will get right on that, since you called on them to yesterday. Right
