SCHOOL COMMITTEE NEWS: Details Of Assistant Superintendent Search Announced

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington School Superintendent Dr. Glenn Brand announced details of the Assistant Superintendent Search at last week’s School Committee Meeting

“This will be a wide-open search that will advertised broadly,” wrote Brand in a memo to the School Committee. 

Brand noted the job posting was published in School Spring, Massachusetts School Administrators Association, Massachusetts Association of School Committees, Top Jobs/Education Week, and Indeed.com.

“This process will be inclusive of key stakeholders, through and balanced in terms of gathering feedback and information on potential candidates,” said Brand. “This process will provide opportunities throughout for staff and community input that will be considered input that will be considered in the overall decision-making process and my recommendation to you on a finalist.”

Brand highlighted the four key phases of the search process — (1) Search Committee; (2) Day-Long Visit to the District; (3) Site Visit to the Candidates Home District; and (4) Superintendent Selection.

The Search Committee, which will be coordinated by the Director of Human Resources Andrea Stern-Armstrong, consists of Holly Banusiewicz, Alice Brown-LeGrand, Krystyn Forcina, Charlotte King, Susan MacDonald, Robert Mauriello, Jonathan Merenda, Roxanne Rene, and Mark Staffier, along with parents Teresa Smith and Jessica Stryhalaeck.

Brand also provided an overview of the search timeline, noting the COVID-19 closure has the schedule up in the air:

  • March 2 — Position Posted
  • March 25 — Application Submission Deadline
  • April 3 — Zoom Orientation Meeting
  • TBD (April 8 or 9) — Zoom Meeting to Finalize Candidates to Interview
  • TBD (Week of April 13) — Zoom Interviews
  • TBD (Week of April 20) — Pre-Finalists Announced
  • TBD — Finalists visit Wilmington Public Schools
  • TBD — Site Visits to Finalists’ Home Districts
  • TBD — Finalist Announced

Brand stressed that there will be several opportunities for staff and community input, including a survey, staff & community forums, and meet-the-finalists events.
