SCHOOL COMMITTEE To Discuss COVID-19, Remote Learning, Personnel Searches, School Choice & More On April 8

WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington School Committee meets this Wednesday, April 8, 2020 at 7pm via Zoom.

There are some newsworthy items on the agenda, including:

  • Superintendent Dr. Glenn Brand will provide a COVID-19 update.
  • Superintendent Brand will provide updates on the Assistant Superintendent search and West Intermediate School Principal search.
  • Superintendent Brand will provide an update on the Student Opportunity Act.
  • Superintendent Brand will discuss elementary school class placements and school supply lists.
  • Superintendent Brand will discuss the APPLE Institute.
  • The School Committee will vote on whether to participate in the state’s school choice program.
  • The School Committee will receive a personnel update from HR Director Andrea Stern-Armstrong.
  • Superintendent Brand will provide his report of the Town’s 2019 Annual Report.
  • Assistant Superintendent Paul Ruggiero will provide the FY20 Financial Report.
  • The School Committee will accept a $2,800 donation from the Wilmington Educational Foundation for Joanne Benton Educator Exploration teacher grants.

The meeting will be telecast live by Wilmington Community Television on WCTV — Channel 9 on Comcast and Channel 37 on Verizon.  The meeting will also be streamed on WCTV’s website HERE.
