WILMINGTON, MA — Below is an announcement posted on the Wilmington Community Board Facebook Group. The information was relayed by someone who spoke directly with the Wilmington Market Basket Manager and aligns with press reports of what’s happening at other Market Basket locations:
***WILMINGTON MARKET BASKET SHOPPERS***
Beginning at 6:00 AM on Thursday, April 2, 2020, the Wilmington Market Basket at 260 Main Street, Wilmington, will be taking precautions in order to allow customers a six-foot clearance while shopping.
I spoke with a manager who explained that the limit of customers allowed in the building at one time is 149. That means the 150th+ person(s) must wait outside the store until another customer leaves the building. The 150th customer may then enter the building to shop, and customer 151 must wait for another customer to leave before entering.
The number of customers allowed in the store at one time was calculated using the square footage of the store and the necessity to allow six feet between each customer. The floors of the store, inside and outside, will be marked in six-foot intervals. There will be Market Basket employees standing at the doors conducting customer flow.
To simplify the flow of foot traffic coming in and going out of the building, the stores’ doors will be ONE WAY ONLY. Looking at the store from the parking lot, the RIGHTHAND-SIDE DOORS will be designated as the INCOMING DOORS. The LEFTHAND-SIDE DOORS will be designated as the OUTGOING DOORS.
Please be respectful of these new COVID-19 mandated rules and the employees whose job is to enforce them. Everyone’s cooperation is necessary to ensure an organized and safe shopping experience for all.
Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding.
