Wilmington Public Schools Now Loaning Out Chromebooks To Students As Reopening Date Is Postponed To May 4

Below is an important message from Wilmington Public Schools for families with children in PreK through Grade 5:

Dear Wilmington PK-5 Families,

We were able to distribute a large number of loaner Chromebooks to families Thursday that had requested a device. Recognizing that the recent extension of school closures may prompt additional need, we will be planning a second distribution next week. Please fill out the survey form (if you haven’t already) if you would like to request a loaner Chromebook. You will be contacted with additional details once your survey has been reviewed.

As students in grades 6 through 12 already have Chromebooks, this message is intended for parents/guardians of students enrolled in the Wilmington Public Schools in grades PK through 5. Unfortunately, we do not have enough devices in our inventory to provide a device for every student enrolled in these grades. The information you provide will help us know how many devices are needed and to create an efficient preparation and distribution schedule. Because we do not have enough devices for every student, we will prioritize those families who do not have a device at all in their homes. If you are in need of technical support, please contact the Office of Information Technology Department at chromebooks@wpsk12.com. Thank you for your continued patience as we navigate this public health situation together.

Regards,

Kenneth Lord
Director of Technology and Digital Learning
