OBITUARY: Robert Taylor, 89

SYRACUSE, NY — Robert Taylor, 89, of Syracuse, passed away Saturday, January 11, 2020 at The Centers at St. Camillus. Born in Dracut, MA, he was raised in Wilmington, MA before moving to Syracuse in 1950. A graduate of Wilmington High School, Robert retired in 1989 after 36 years with General Electric. He was an active member of Amboy Belle Isle United Church. For many years, Robert wintered in Panama City Beach FL. He was an avid golfer and sports fan of the Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots and the Boston Bruins.

Robert was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Hilda; and sisters, Mariam “Mime” Miller and Martha White.

Surviving are his sons, James (Sharon) of Rome City, IN and Ted (Sandy) of Marietta; siblings, Jere (Carol) Melzar, Lavinia (Venie) Syvertson and James (Kay) Melzar; grandchildren, Derek (Misty Lee), Adam (Julia), Shannon, Shannon (Chris), Wayne (Katrina) and Amber; and seven great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may call Friday, January 17, 2020 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Buranich Funeral Home, 5431 W. Genesee St., Camillus.

Services will be Saturday, January 18 at 10 a.m. in Amboy Belle Isle United Church. Burial will be in Belle Isle Cemetery, Warners.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Amboy Belle Isle United Church, 6190 Airport Rd, Syracuse, NY 13209.
