WILMINGTON, MA — Cardsmart, the popular family-owned card and gift shop located in the Wilmington plaza, is closing.
“Cardsmart in Wilmington will be closing [its] doors by the end of [January],” recently announced owner Richard Pignone Jr. on social media. “Online retailers coupled with increased expenses have taken its toll…. I wish it didn’t have to come to this point.”
The store, which first opened in Wilmington in 2009 when the new plaza was built, will offer steep discounts over its final weeks:
- Full priced gifts (excluding CBD products) are on sale at a 30% discount.
- Cards and gift wrap remain on sale at the standard 50% discount.
- Winter coats, ponchos, scarves, CC beanie hats, and most Christmas items are on sale at a 50% discount.
- All sales are final.
Pignone’s other Cardsmart shop in nearby Billerica, located inside the plaza with Bob’s and Altitude Trampoline Park at 700 Boston Road, will remain open with no plans to close. Cardsmart loyalty cards and Cardsmart loyalty coupons can be used at the Billerica location.
