SELECTMEN NEWS: Board To Discuss Need For New Senior Center, Unaccepted Streets, Town Meeting Changes & More On December 16

WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Board of Selectmen meets this Monday, December 16, 2019 in Room 9 of Town Hall at 7pm. An Executive Session precedes the meeting at 6pm.

There are some noteworthy items on the agenda, including:

  • Selectmen will hear recommendations regarding a new Senior Center from the Wilmington Elderly Services Commission.
  • Selectmen will hear a presentation from Town Engineer Paul Alunni on unaccepted streets.
  • Selectmen will hold public hearings regarding a change of officer at 99 Restaurant and a change of manager at Michael’s Place.
  • Selectmen will be introduced to Wilmington’s newest police officers — Meghan Sousa & Joseph Fitzgerald.
  • Selectmen will be serenaded by a WHS Soundscape performance.
  • Selectmen will receive updates from Finance Director/Town Accountant Bryan Perry on the town’s MUNIS Software Conversion and FY2020 tax rates.
  • Selectmen will receive a memo from Town Manager Jeff Hull regarding facility needs.
  • Selectmen will receive a letter sent by Special Town Counsel to the Surface Transportation Board regarding NET.
  • Selectmen will consider the request of Town Clerk Christine Touma-Conway to appoint election workers for 2020.
  • Selectmen will consider the request of resident Jeff Cranford to support a warrant article to name and dedicate the music room at Wilmington High in honor of Barbara Mette.
  • Selectmen will consider the recommendations of the Inhabitant Bylaw Study Committee regarding proposed changes to Annual Town Meeting.
  • Selectmen will issue 2020 licenses for alcohol beverages, automatic amusement, billiard room, class I vehicle sales, class II vehicle sales, common victualer licenses, and entertainment licenses.

The meeting will be telecast live by Wilmington Community Television on WCTV — Channel 9 on Comcast and Channel 37 on Verizon.  The meeting will also be streamed on WCTV’s website HERE.
