WCTV NEWS & NOTES: Tree Lighting, Festival of Trees, Breakfast with Santa & More Now Available For Online Viewing

The below announcement was submitted by Shaun Neville, Executive Director of Wilmington Community Television (WCTV):

WILMINGTON, MA — WCTV crews have been busy across Wilmington over the past week getting holiday programming recorded and on our air.

This past Saturday’s Tree Lighting Ceremony aired live on WCTV and is now available on TV and online at wctv.org/vod.  There’s also a short highlight reel of the event posted to our social media channels.

Last weekend was also the We’re One Wilmington Festival of Trees.  We’ve posted a short video to social media and have lots more content coming of the performances that happened all weekend.

WCTV also had a green screen photo set on Saturday, where people could stop by and make a small donation to get their picture taken with a holiday background. We took nearly 100 pictures and posted them to our Facebook page. This was a lot of fun for us and we hope it was fun for those who participated! Thanks to WOW for letting us have the space on Saturday.

We also have Santa on WCTV! The Sons of Italy’s annual Breakfast with Santa event looked like another big success. The visits with Santa were recorded for people to enjoy this year (and years from now!)

Look for all this holiday-themed programming on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 7PM (Comcast 9 / Verizon 37) leading up to Christmas. On Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, we’ll air a marathon of Christmas programming, so you can tune in at any point during the day to into the Christmas spirit from Wilmington events.

We’re also in the middle of our Winter Concert Series coverage at Wilmington High School.

This Thursday night at 7PM will be the WHS Band and 7th & 8th Grade Band. Watch the concert live on our channels or at wctv.org/live.

Next Tuesday, we’ll be live again at 7PM to bring you some of the younger band performers. And concerts from the strings and chorus groups are already on our air and available at wctv.org/vod.

If you’re looking to watch these concerts replay on TV, you’ll find them on Friday and Sunday nights starting at 7PM. They’ll also be a part of the Christmas marathon coverage.

You’ve got last minute shopping. We’ve got a fun morning planned!  There’s a special one-day youth session coming up on Saturday, December 21st from 10A-1P. Kids will play a game show, have some green screen fun and get a pizza lunch. Contact Marty McCue (marty@wctv.org) to learn more. The cost is $30.  This session is open to kids ages 9-14 and you don’t need to have prior WCTV experience to be a part of it.
