OBITUARY: Robert (Bob) Patrick Auer, 91

EXETER, NH – Robert (Bob) Patrick Auer, 91, passed away on Sunday, December 8th, 2019 at his home in Exeter, NH.

He was born on October 26, 1928, in Queens, NY to the late Mildred (Murray) and William Auer. Bob grew up in New York. At the age of 15, he enlisted in the Merchant Marines. Once out of the Merchant Marines, he became a jockey. Afterwards, he began his career as an entrepreneur, owning and operating multiple stores. He was also an auctioneer and owned the 125 Auction House in Wilmington, MA. In his spare time, Bob was an avid boater. He often spent many hours just cruising around marinas and admiring all the boats. He was also a member of the Coast Guard.

Bob is survived by his children, Robert L. Auer of Las Vegas, NV, Mark Auer and his wife, Lisa, of Danville, NH, Eric Auer and his wife, Pamela, of Salem, NH, Heidi Tokanel and her husband, David, of Windham, NH; and Karl Auer of Las Vegas, NV. He is also survived by his long-time companion, Anne Picard. He had 11 grandchildren, Laura Klimas, Dawn Brancato, Nicole Auer, Robert Auer, Adam Auer, Eric Massie, Tony Auer, Nicholas Auer, Ryan Auer, Leighann Tokanel, and Robert Tokanel; as well as 8 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his two brothers.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 13, 2019 at Carrier Family Funeral Home, 38 Range Road, Windham, NH 03087. A funeral service will be held at 5pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
