OBITUARY: Angelo Thomas Fillios, 94

WILMINGTON, MA — Angelo Thomas Fillios, age 94, of Westford, formerly of Cambridge, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2019, at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln.

Angelo was the devoted father of Catherine Kanode of Wilmington and Loretta Fillios of Chelsea, loving “Papou” of Jennifer Chiampa, Danielle LaFontaine and great-grandson Michael. Cherished son of the late Thomas and Mary (Rigopoulos) Fillios. Angelo was one of 9 siblings and is survived by his sister Athena Fillios, as well as many nieces, nephews and his beloved dog “Beau Beau”.

Angelo proudly served as a combat medic in the 160th Medical Combat Engineers C Battalion with the United States Army during World War II and was stationed overseas in Northern France. Angelo was a Chevalier recipient and awarded the Legion of Honor Award from the French Government for his courageous service to their countrymen during the War.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Saturday, December 7th for Visitation from 1:00-3:00 p.m. followed by a Service with Military Honors at 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donation’s in Angelo’s memory may be made to VIDOL (Veterans in Defense of Liberty), P. O. Box 1821, Merrifield, VA 22116.
