OBITUARY: Elaine Mara (Higgins) Little, 94

WILMINGTON, MA — Elaine Mara (Higgins) Little, a resident of Reading since 1963, died on November 28, 2019, at CareOne of Wilmington in Wilmington, MA. She was 94 years of age.Elaine was born in Taunton, Massachusetts, on April 20, 1925, the daughter of the late Thomas D. and Isabel K. (Wright) Higgins. Elaine was a graduate of Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in Boston. She owned and operated Little Business Services on Haven Street in Reading for over 40 years. She was an active member of Grace Chapel in Wilmington for the past 5 years and Grace Chapel in Lexington for 30 years prior to that. Elaine was very engaged in the Reading community. She was a longtime member of Meadow Brook Golf Club, the Republican Town Committee, and the Reading Art Association. She was also a member of the Dartmouth Women’s Club of Boston.Elaine was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth H. Little, Sr. Devoted mother of Martha E. Walters and her partner Dennis Cope of Andover, Kenneth H. Little, Jr. of Waterville Valley, NH, and his late wife Dr. Valerie Niece, and Christopher T. Little and his wife Beth of Concord NH. Cherished sister of Clare Bakon of Lakeland, FL, and Sunapee, NH, Kathleen Williams of Lakeland, FL, Beth Shumway of Portsmouth, RI, the late Mary Charlotte Holbrook formerly of Reading, and the late Paul Higgins of North Dighton. Loving grandmother of Jeffrey, Andrew, Colin, Peter, Mackenzie, Guthrie, Jake, Braden, Dugan and a grandson expected in May 2020. Elaine is also survived by many treasured nieces and nephews, her former son-in-law Thomas Walters of NH and former daughter-in-law Kate Brewer of NH.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, December 5 at the Douglass, Edgerley and Bessom Funeral Home, 25 Sanborn St. (corner of Woburn St.), Reading at 5pm. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 2-5pm. Burial is private.
