WILMINGTON, MA — Donna M. McBay (Hurley), age 69, of Londonderry, NH, formerly a long-time resident of Wilmington, MA, passed away peacefully on November 19, 2019, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, New Hampshire, following a brief illness.
Donna was born on February 3, 1950, in Boston, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late John and Mary Hurley. Donna grew up in Dorchester and attended Catholic Schools; she was a graduate of St. Patrick’s High School in Roxbury, with the Class of 1969.
Donna married and moved to Wilmington in 1976; where she raised her two children Kim and Scott. Donna loved being a mom; she was very devoted to her family and showered her children with unconditional love and support. When Donna became a “Grammy” she was thrilled and loved to dote on her grandchildren. Donna never missed a sporting event, school concert, or any other activity they were involved in; they were her whole world. Donna’s grandchildren lived in Londonderry, NH so seventeen years ago she moved up north to be close to them. Donna enjoyed her new home; she liked her gardens out in her yard and she enjoyed feeding the birds.
At the time of her death, Donna was employed at the L-3 Harris Company as a Human Resource Generalist. Donna thoroughly enjoyed her job; she made many great friendships with her co-workers and she enjoyed socializing and travelling with them outside of work. To her family’s amazement, Donna, even went out of her comfort zone on one of the trips and went zip lining.
Donna will be fondly remembered as a wonderful woman who was kind and caring towards everyone she met. Donna looked forward to the time she spent with family and friends and they in turn will cherish the time and memories they made together. Donna will forever be in the hearts of those she loved.
Donna was the devoted mother of Kimberly A. (McBay) McKinnon & her partner Gregg Connolly of Londonderry, NH and the late Scott F. McBay. Loving “Grammy” of Patrick, Connor, Taylor, Lindsey, Matthew and Holly. Cherished daughter of the late John and Mary (Daley) Hurley, dear sister of the late Barbara Vaughan and John Hurley. Donna was also very special to Francis and Diane McBay of Wilmington as well as many dear friends.
Family and friends gathered at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Saturday, November 23rd at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Dorothy’s Church, Main St. (Rte. 38), Wilmington, MA at 10:00 a.m. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA. Visiting Hours were held at the Funeral Home on Friday, November 22nd from 3:30-8:00 p.m.
