WAKEFIELD, MA — Catherine G. Musicof (Buckley), “Cathie”, age 80, of Wakefield, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 30, 2019, at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading.

Cathie was born on November 17, 1938, in Malden; MA; she was the beloved daughter of the late James and Agnes (Enos) Buckley. Cathie was raised in Revere and Chelsea and attended St. Rose Elementary School and was a graduate of St. Rose High School in Chelsea, MA.

Cathie went on to enter the Order of the Sisters of Providence to start her calling as a Nun in the early sixties. She attended St. Mary-of-the-Woods in Indiana novitiate and took culinary courses. Cathie then left the order of the Sisters of Providence and worked at a number of jobs in banking and then on to the Treasurer’s Office at the city hall in Chelsea. She decided to work with disabled children at Kennedy Memorial in Boston in the middle sixties. Cathie became a nurses aide taking care of the severely sick children there. The Franciscan Missionaries who were in charge of this hospital facility saw what loving care she showed the sick children and encouraged her to attend St. Elizabeth’s Hospital nursing program where she became a Registered Nurse.

Throughout her nursing career, Cathie, worked for several hospitals and later on she cared for the elderly at various nursing homes. Cathie showered her patients with kindness and care; she treated them as “family” and always had their best interest at heart.

Cathie left the Franciscan Order in the early eighties and entered civilian life. In the mid 1990’s while working at a hospital she met a pharmacist, Sol Musicof; they became fast friends and enjoyed each other’s company. Cathie and Sol married in October of 1998 just recently celebrating their 21st Anniversary; they were a good match and had lots of great times together throughout the years. They enjoyed traveling, dancing, and spending time with their family and friends.

Cathie loved her family with all her heart, she was a wonderful wife, daughter, sister, aunt and sister-in-law; she was very close to her nieces and nephews and enjoyed being a step-mom to Sol’s two children. Cathie looked forward to family holidays and special occasions just to have everyone together.

Cathie will be fondly remembered for her great sense of humor, her unconditional love for others and for her kind, warm personality. Her laugh was infectious! She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
