WILMINGTON, MA — Join Wilmington Boy Scout Troop #136, in support of the Wilmington-based iPods for Wounded Veterans, for an afternoon of community, celebration and support of our veterans and active duty wounded soldiers, this Saturday, November 9, 2019, from 11:30am to 3pm, at the Friendship Lodge (32 Church Street).
The troop is collecting toiletries, winter and other new clothing items to support hospitalized veterans.
The event will include some incredible speakers:
- World War II veteran John Kastaros will talk of his surviving a B-17 bailout and capture by the Gestapo. He’ll have signed copies of his book (“Code Burgundy: The Long Escape”) for sale.
- Retired veteran John Cuddy, a reporter for the Valley Patriot, will share his unique stories as well as given an insightful talk on the late US Navy Senior Chief Petty Officer Shannon Kent.
- Author Marina Kirsch will give a presentation on her award-winning family story (“Flight of Remembrance: A World War II Memoir of Love & Survival”). Signed copies of the book will be available for purchase.
Stop by or spend the afternoon writing letters of encouragement and cards with holiday greetings. This is a time to celebrate and say thank you to our veterans that have sacrificed so much. All card and letter writing materials will be supplied.
Light refreshments will be served.
Call Frank West at 978-658-1754 for further details on this great event.
