The below announcement was submitted by Shaun Neville, Executive Director of Wilmington Community Television (WCTV):
WILMINGTON, MA — WCTV was proud to be a part of last week’s Superintendent Town Hall Forum at Wilmington High School. For nearly an hour, Dr. Glenn Brand answered questions from WHS students. They talked about his professional background and why he came to Wilmington. They then tackled topics like how he decides to call a snow day, whether a WHS gymnastics team might become a reality and if he could wave a magic wand, what one change would he made in the school district.
WCTV recorded the entire event, which I believe was beneficial to everyone in the room and viewers who could check it out later. You can find it at wctv.org or on TV: Comcast 9 / Verizon 37.
What you wouldn’t see as part of the production was the “post-event” conversations that happened in the room once cameras stopped rolling. Dr. Brand stuck around for another 20 minutes or so, engaging with students who had follow-up questions or additional topics they wanted him to address. It was clear that students, many of them sophomores, wanted to take advantage of the opportunity to talk with the head of the school department.
Thanks to Mike Maloney, who teaches social studies at the high school and moderated the event. He also was the point person for student questions and organized the audience.
This is definitely an event we’ll look to do again!
