WILMINGTON, MA — Nick Scarpello, of Wakefield, has been awarded the 2019 Military Appreciation Award from iPods for Wounded Veterans.
Scarpello graduated from Malden Catholic in the spring and is now a freshmen at Georgetown University. While at Malden Catholic, he became involved with iPods for Wounded Veterans in the fall of 2016. He also served as captain of the football team and member of the outdoor track team, while belonging to the student newspaper and mock trial team.
Scarpello participated in the following iPods for Wounded Veterans activities:
- manned the Barnes & Noble table on Veterans Day
- visited Soldiers Home in Chelsea
- visited VA Hospital in Bedford
- stocked care packages for veterans during the Christmas season
- handed out electric devices to veterans groups in Beverly
- represented iPods for Wounded Veterans during Memorial Day Parade
- volunteered at additional events in Manchester & Worcester
His outstanding volunteerism towards veterans has been sensational.
