READING, MA — Austin Preparatory School in Reading is pleased to welcome two new members to its Board of Trustees.
Michael H. Bravo is the parent of a current Austin Prep student and a recent Austin Prep alumnus. He has more than 30 years of experience in the fields of engineering and systems management. A Licensed Professional Engineer, Bravo has extensive knowledge and background in business process development and FDA compliance knowledge.
For the past 19 years, Bravo has served in various capacities with Philips Healthcare, and is currently the Head of Supplier Quality for Monitoring and Analytics. In this role, Bravo is responsible for all Supplier Quality and related Regulatory Compliance aspects
with a worldwide team of 65 associates in the United States, Europe, and Asia. Prior to his tenure with Philips Healthcare, Bravo held managerial and technical positions in the medical industry with Agilent Technologies and Hewlett-Packard. Bravo’s commitment to the field has extended beyond the workplace, having served in leadership roles within the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) and the
Technical Association of the Pulp and Paper Industry (TAPPI).
Bravo received his B.S. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and completed his M.S. in engineering and management from MIT. Bravo currently resides in Andover with his wife Karen, son Logan (Austin Prep class of 2018) and daughter Catherine (Austin Prep class of 2020).
Steven R. DiSalvo, Ph.D. is the President of Endicott College in Beverly, MA. A longtime leader in higher education and philanthropy, Dr. DiSalvo has held a number of executive positions in for-profits and non-profits with a track record of transformative success, primarily at colleges and universities throughout the United States. He became Endicott’s seventh president on July 1, 2019.
Prior to accepting the leadership role at Endicott, Dr. DiSalvo served as the tenth president of Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H. While at Saint Anselm, Dr. DiSalvo advanced the college’s national reputation through scholarship, athletics and via the prestigious New Hampshire Institute of Politics operated by the College. His tenure was marked by enrollment and endowment growth, a successful capital campaign, increased retention and graduation rates, and significant capital improvement projects.
Previously, Dr. DiSalvo was president at Wisconsin’s Marian University, in addition to serving in various capacities at Fordham University, Loyola University Chicago, and Fairfield University.
On the national stage, Dr. DiSalvo has emerged as an expert on the topic of college affordability and student debt, with op-eds and interviews in media outlets such as The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, and The Boston Globe. Dr. DiSalvo has also served on numerous higher education boards, leading the Committee on Student Aid as a member of the Board of Directors for the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (NAICU).
Dr. DiSalvo’s experience extends beyond higher education, having served as the president and founder of The Hopewell Group, a leading philanthropic advising firm, and as executive director of the Joe Torre Safe at Home Foundation, dedicated to ending domestic violence through educational programs. He also served as the chief operating officer at Junior Achievement New York, which is committed to inspiring K-12 students to be successful via business education by working with CEO’s of Fortune 100 companies.
Dr. DiSalvo completed his Ph.D. in educational leadership at Fordham University, where he also earned an M.B.A. in marketing and a B.S. in psychology. He and his wife Eileen are the parents of three adult sons, Tom, Andrew and Connor.
Headmaster Dr. James Hickey remarked, “Austin Prep is fortunate to have a talented and forward thinking Board of Trustees and we look forward to working with Dr. DiSalvo and Mr. Bravo to keep Austin Prep moving ahead on a pathway of excellence.” Both Bravo and Dr. DiSalvo have been appointed to a three-year term through November 2022.
