Wilmington Community Television (WCTV) Recognized As One Of The Best Local Access Stations In New England

Below is an announcement from WCTV Executive Director Shaun Neville:

WILMINGTON, MA — I am excited to announce that WCTV picked up quite a bit of regional recognition this week in the world of community media.  The Alliance for Community Media’s Northeast Region just wrapped up its annual video festival for media centers across New England and New York. Wilmington Community Television was among the most recognized centers at this year’s festival, picking up “top three” honors in five separate categories, including two first-place finishes.

“Book Stew” has received a first place award in the member-produced Profile Talk Show category.  Eileen MacDougall’s episode that won the honor was a Skype interview with commentator/author/historian Andrew Bacevich.  Congrats Eileen!  You can see a new episode of Book Stew every month on WCTV. It’s a great example of volunteer-based programming that comes together every month with assistance from staff and other volunteers.

“Candidates Night 2018: Selectmen Race” won a first place award in the Issues and Political Process category. The debate featured Jonathan Eaton and Rob Fasulo. It was moderated by Tom Zuppa with panelists Rob Hayes and Kori Tuitt.  Most WCTV staff were involved in the production, with Adam Dusenberry directing.

“Moving Wall: Opening Ceremony” won second place in the Event Coverage: Multiple Camera category. Tom Pazyra and I were behind the camera for this event last summer.  It was one of a number of productions WCTV put together for that week of reflection on the Vietnam War.

“Where’s Wilmington” has won third place honors in the staff-produced Profile Talk Show category for the second straight year. Lisa’s episode on Fosters Pond was the entry to win the honor. It included video segments from the field shot and edited by Tom Pazyra.

“Zoning Explainer” also won third place in the Municipal/Government Programming category.  This short video last year explained the zoning process in Wilmington relative to the proposed detox facility.

If you want to watch any of these entries, head to WCTV.org.  Congrats to WCTV’s staff and members for receiving these honors. It shows just what sort of great work is going on here in Wilmington.
