WCTV News & Notes: WCTV To GO LIVE This Friday, Sunday & Monday For Football, Candlelight Vigil, & Key Meeting

WILMINGTON, MA — The below announcement was submitted by Shaun Neville, Executive Director of Wilmington Community Television (WCTV):

It’s already been a busy week of live television on WCTV. But we’ve got more on tap in the coming days.

On Friday night, watch Wildcat football take on Melrose at 7PM.

On Sunday night at 7PM, the annual Candlelight Vigil will be held on the Town Common. This event is to remember those lost to substance use and for those still fighting the battle. It will include music and various speakers.

Then on Monday night at 7PM, it’s a special meeting from the Wildwood School. The Board of Selectmen will be joined by members of the School Committee, Finance Committee and Facility Master Plan Committee. The group will discuss urgent building needs facing the town. This comes as the Superintendent of Schools and others have raised the alarm that the Wildwood School (now home to K and Pre-K) doesn’t have many years left in it.  The town has also put a priority on a North Wilmington fire station and there is an effort underway among seniors in town to rally support for a new Senior Center. It should be an interesting meeting!

All WCTV live programs air on Comcast Channel 9 / Verizon Channel 37.  You can also stream online at wctv.org/live, watch it through the WCTV Mobile App or on the WCTV Roku Channel.

Next week, WCTV is hosting a Casting Call for people in town who want to be a part of a horror classic.

WCTV is seeking actors to audition for Night of the Living Dead- The Radio Play.

If you are good at creepy voices or have a bloodcurdling scream and want to have some ghoulish fun come and audition on Wednesday, October 2nd, 6PM-9PM at Wilmington Community Television.

For this radio drama, all actors will be reading from the script, so there’s no need to memorize lines. And it’s a small commitment. After next week’s audition, there’s only one rehearsal on Wednesday, October 16th  followed by a recording in the studio on Saturday, October 19th.

There are many speaking roles available for both the living and the undead. Ages 15 and up. We are especially looking for mature voices for the roles of Ben and Barbara. Any aspiring actor would love to sink their teeth into these iconic parts.

Our radio play will be filmed for television with a mash-up of sights and sounds from the movie.  For more information and audition materials, visit wctv.org or contact Ryan Malyar: ryan@WCTV.org

New Programs:

  • Discourse: Mike Champoux comes on to discuss the work being done by the Economic Development Committee.
