WILMINGTON, MA — Paul J. Minichiello, Sr., age 65, of Wilmington, formerly of Malden, passed away unexpectedly on September 22, 2019.
Paul was born on May 22, 1954, in Boston, MA; he was the dear son of the late John and Sarah (Genovese) Minichiello. Paul was raised and educated in Malden.
Paul enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and started active duty in February of 1972. Paul took several courses to continue his education and earned his National Defense Service Medal as well as his Rifle Marksman Badge during his time in the Marines; he also worked his way up to rank of Lance Corporal in May of 1973. Paul was honorably discharged from active duty in 1974 and went on to serve in the Marine Corps. Reserves until January of 1978.
Paul married the “love of his life” Maureen (Marshall) Minichiello, in 1979; the couple lived in Malden before moving to Wilmington many years ago. Paul and Maureen had a wonderful family and many great times together before her untimely passing in March of 2015. Paul really missed Maureen; she was not only his wife but truly his best friend.
Paul was a hard worker; for many years he was a carpenter for Union Local 33. Paul made many friends at work throughout the years before he retired in 1995.
Paul will be fondly remembered as a great guy and a good storyteller; he was passionate about his beliefs and the people in his life. Paul was very talented, he made many unique inventions throughout the years. He was also a creative artist who could draw amazing pictures. Paul loved his Boston Sports teams, especially the New England Patriots.
Paul was a true Patriot who loved his family, friends and country with all his heart, and he will forever be missed.
Paul was the beloved husband of the late Maureen S. (Marshall) Minichiello, devoted father of Nicole Brown & her husband Paul of Methuen and Paul J. Minichiello Jr. of Billerica. Loving “Pa” of Jordyn, Joseph and Frankie Brown, Shane, Adrianna and Anthony Minichiello. Dear brother of Peter Minichello & his wife Margie of Stoneham, ME, Patty Detore of Byfield, Robert Minichiello of Methuen and John Minichiello & his wife Denise of Tewksbury. Paul is further survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law as well as many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, MA, on Friday, September 27th for Visitation from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon followed by a Service at 12:00 noon. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington, MA.
