WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Community Fund held its Annual Shredding Day this past Saturday, September 14, 2019 in the Wilmington Town Common parking lot.
Residents were able to safely discard of unwanted papers courtesy of two shredding trucks secured by the Community Fund.
“It was steady throughout the day,” said Community Fund President and event organizer Dianna DiGregorio. “The event started at 9am, but people started lining up at 8am. Many people remarked that they look forward to this event every year.”
While the event was free of charge, residents were encouraged to bring food donations or monetary donations to benefit the Wilmington Food Pantry, which is run by the Community Fund.
“We raised $725 and received two truckloads of food donations. Residents were very generous,” said DiGregorio. “The event is for a good cause and brings awareness to what the Wilmington Community Fund is all about, as well as the Food Pantry.”
Community Fund volunteers thanked each donor with a reusable tote bag.
