Many of these new teachers and staff members were present at this week’s School Committee Meeting as part of the committee’s tradition of welcoming new personnel at the start of the school year.
Among those present were two Wilmington High School graduates — Ashley LeBlanc (Class of 2004) and Katherine McKenna (Class of 2014).
WHS Principal Linda Peters noted that it was LeBlanc’s own high school counselor at Wilmington High School during her time as a student that inspired her to pursue a career in school counseling.
North Intermediate Principal Christine McMenimen added that McKenna is a former standout field hockey and softball player at Wilmington High. She holds her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in elementary education from Bridgwater State University and has previously served as a substitute in the district.
“We’ve had many new staff members join us over the past three months, which isn’t terribly unusual,” said Superintendent Dr. Glenn Brand. “One of the wonderful things I’ve learned about Wilmington is the great longevity of many of our staff. And we hope our [new staff members] will be with us for many, many years to come… We welcome them and wish you a great year ahead.”
