Massachusetts Lottery Eyeing Wilmington As Location For New Regional Office

WILMINGTON, MA — Is Wilmington about to get lucky?

The Town of Wilmington is one of eight communities currently in consideration to become home to one of the Massachusetts State Lottery’s five regional offices.

The State Lottery is planning to lease “a location with 13,700 square feet of usable retail space in a power center, strip mall, retail pad site, or outparcel, in Andover, Burlington, North Andover, Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield, Wilmington or Woburn for a 10-year term,” writes Martha Goldstein, Director of Office of Leasing and State Office Planning.

According to a recent Request For Proposal, this regional office will house the State Lottery’s operations for the entire North Shore, and include:

  • a Client Service Area/Claims Center where members of the public may redeem winning tickets in an amount of $100,000 or less
  • an area for members of the public to purchase tickets at a counter, at vending machines, and play keno
  • administrative offices where lottery staff supports lottery sales agents within the region
  • a base for lottery field technicians and sales representatives serving the North Shore
  • warehouse and storage functions

The State Lottery expects to receive approximately 200 visitors per day at the Claims Center, and approximately 35 other visitors, vendors and sale agents having business with the lottery staff.

The Lottery’s current North Shore regional office is located in Woburn at 11 Cummings Park.

State Senator Bruce Tarr (R-Glouceser), who represents Wilmington, notified the Wilmington-Tewksbury Chamber of Commerce last week about this opportunity. Nancy Vallee, Executive Director of the Chamber, subsequently reached out to many members of Wilmington’s business communities, including business owners and property management companies.
