SCHOOL COMMITTEE To Discuss New School Year, New Administrators & New Goals At August 28 Meeting

WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington School Committee meets this Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 7pm in the Large Instruction Room at Wilmington High School.

There are some newsworthy items on the agenda, including:

  • Superintendent Brand will give his ‘Opening of School’ report.
  • Superintendent Brand will discuss the recent student support services reorganization.
  • Superintendent Brand will review some of the projects the DPW and Public Buildings Department have completed for the schools this summer.
  • The School Committee will approve its 2019-2020 protocols.
  • The School Committee will appoint Superintendent Brand to the SEEM Board of Directors.
  • Superintendent Brand will introduce the district’s new administrators.
  • Assistant Superintendent Ruggiero will discuss the success of the district’s athletic summer camps.
  • Human Resources Coordinator Andrea Stern Armstrong will provide a personnel report.
  • Assistant Superintendent Ruggiero will announce a safety and security grant award recently awarded to the district.
  • Middle School Principal Alex Phillips will present the 2019-2020 Middle School handbook.
  • The School Committee will receive an update on changing the title of “guidance counselor” to “school counselor.”
  • Superintendent Brand will present his goals for the school year as part of the annual Superintendent Evaluation process.

The School Committee will also hear subcommittee reports and public comments.

The meeting will be telecast live by Wilmington Community Television on WCTV — Channel 9 on Comcast and Channel 37 on Verizon.  The meeting will also be streamed on WCTV’s website HERE.
