POLICE LOG for August 5: Driver Throws Beer Bottles; Syringe Found; Woburn Man Issued Summons; Texting While Driving

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are highlights of the Wilmington Police Log for Monday, August 5, 2019:

  • A caller reported an erratic operator on 93 North got off at Exit 38. Vehicle passed caller and threw beer bottles as his vehicle. State Police and Reading Police were notified. (7:36am)
  • Police came across a vehicle parked in a handicap spot without a placard  in the Market Basket parking lot. Operator was located inside Panera Bread and given a verbal warning. (10:29am)
  • A caller reported two abandoned bicycles at the front entrance of the old Rite Aid on Main Street. Caller stated the bikes have been there for two days. (3:37pm)
  • Police noted spray paint on the ground and on the bike of the Rite Aide building. A lot of trash and alcohol bottles were also observed. Police will conduct extra patrols of area. (5:45pm)
  • Michael L. Cruz (24, Woburn) was issued a summons for Operating A Motor Vehicle With A Suspended License, Operating A Motor Vehicle With A Revoked Registration, and Uninsured Motor Vehicle. Cruz was involved in a 2-vehicle crash at Glen Road and Brattle Street. Stop sign and street sign damaged. Wires possibly affected. Comcast and RMLD notified. (6:09pm)
  • A caller from Kentucky received a package from a Wilmington resident and finds it suspicious. Police contacted Wilmington resident who said his Amazon account may have been hacked and he doesn’t recall sending such a package. (6:30pm)
  • Police retrieved a syringe from Westdale Avenue and brought it back to the station for proper disposal. (6:34pm)
  • Police received report of an erratic operator crossing double yellow lines on Route 38. Police stopped the vehicle over the Tewksbury line near the old Sal’s building. Operator admitted to texting while driving down Route 38. (9:48pm)
